Counseling Center
- Classroom counseling lessons that teach social and emotional skills. Lessons include Anti-Harassment/Bullying, Self-Regulation, Resiliency Skills, Citizenship, Kindness, etc.
- Responsive services addresses students’ immediate needs. These services include individual counseling, group counseling, as well as crisis intervention.
- Individual counseling supports students with building emotional regulation skills and skills that help students manage their own academic learning and/or personal and social development.
- Group counseling is available to help students needing extra support with social skills/friendship skills, emotional regulation (anger or anxiety management), or managing any type of loss or split in their family.
- Individual planning includes classroom lessons that help students start to explore the numerous career options available along with their own favorite activities or natural talents.
- Consultation and referrals for students and families.
- Family Support including:
-Clothing
-Mental health resources/referrals
-Medical resources/referrals
-Dental referral
-Vision referral
-Connections to community resources

Hello North Star Navigators!
My name is Melissa Watson, and I am so excited to be the counselor at North Star elementary! This is my thirteenth year as a School Counselor, my seventh year in Salt Lake City School District, and third year at North Star. I have loved getting to know the students these past couple of years and I feel like this is an amazing community of which I am happy to be a part!
